Here’s everything you need to know about consent — and how to make sure the appointment goes smoothly.
Why we ask
A quick note on consent
For patients under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent before a microsuction procedure can be performed. This is a clinical and legal requirement — and we want to make it as easy as possible for you.
Consent can be given in person, completed online before your visit, or provided over the phone. The right option depends on how you book and whether you’ll be attending the appointment.
How it works

You're attending the appointment

Arrive at the clinic with your child.

Our nurse will confirm your relationship to the patient and explain the procedure.

You'll sign a consent form at the clinic before the appointment begins, or confirm your existing consent if you've visited before.
Booking online

Book your child's appointment through our online booking system.

A consent form will be presented as part of the booking — complete and digitally sign it on your child's behalf.

That's it. We'll have the form on file and ready for the appointment. You don't need to attend if consent has been completed online.
Booking over the phone

Call us to make a booking for your child.

Our reception team will ask whether you'll be attending the appointment. If you won't be, we'll take your email address.

We'll email you a consent form to complete and sign digitally before the appointment date.

Once we've received the completed form, everything is ready — your child's appointment can proceed without you needing to be there.
On the day
What your child can expect
Microsuction is a gentle and effective way to remove ear wax, foreign objects, or debris from the ears. Our nurses are specifically trained in this procedure — they use a surgical microscope and a gentle medical vacuum to carefully clear the ear canal.
- The appointment is quick, usually 15–30 minutes.
- Our nurse will explain exactly what's happening at every step.
- Your child's comfort comes first — if they're not happy to proceed at any point, the appointment will stop.
- We'll provide aftercare advice before they leave.

Can another adult bring my child — like an older sibling or grandparent?
What if I forget to complete the form before the appointment?
Our team will contact you by phone. A receptionist will be present as a witness while we take your verbal consent over the call before the appointment can proceed.
